Opportunity
The Jamar Kavon Hildreth Foundation offers a scholarship opportunity for high school seniors and current college students pursuing their first degree or advanced degree.
The foundation, established by Jamar's mother to honor his memory, supports the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
This scholarship is designed for:

Deaf/hard-of-hearing students interested in pursuing a vocational program or higher education.

Hearing students pursuing a major or minor in American Sign Language (ASL).

Requirements for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, and/or diagnosed with a disability

Completed scholarship application form.

Students may submit a three-to-five-minute video in lieu of the typed essay. Please describe how this scholarship will impact your education or life goals and give an example of a challenge you face in the hearing community.

An official high school transcript (for graduating seniors) or official college transcript (for continuing students).

Proof of enrollment is required for continuing students

Letter of recommendation. (One is required and you may submit an additional one)

Requirements for Hearing Students

Completed scholarship application form.

Answer the following questions: What inspired you to major in American Sign Language, and what has been the most pivotal moment in your journey so far?

An official high school transcript (for graduating seniors) or official college transcript (for continuing students).

Must be pursuing a major or minor in American Sign Language (ASL).

Proof of enrollment is required for continuing students.

Verification of current community, ministry or volunteer service.

Letter of recommendation. (One is required, you may submit an additional one)

Requirements for all Scholarship Recipients

Attend a scholarship award meeting with Jamar's mother, Lisa Hildreth. Failure to attend will result in forfeiture of the scholarship.

Serve as an ambassador for JKH by promoting JKH events and information on your social media platforms.

Attend at least one Jamar Kavon Hildreth Foundation event, either in person or online.

If the requirements for the scholarship are not fulfilled, all funds will be forfeited.
